When news broke last 10 days ago that Amy Winehouse's home had been raided and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil arrested, probably none of us were surprised, thinking only that it was about time. As it turns out, the arrest was somehow not regarding drugs, but Blake's other set of crimes. The charges have been called "perverting the court of justice", "conspiring to throw a trial," and a couple other possibly British terms, but basically Pete was due in court next week for assault charges and the police raided his home because they suspected that he was plotting to pay off a key witness. If convicted, he could end up in jail for life.

As eight plain-clothed officers manacled Fielder-Civil and led him off to cells, the tearful jazz diva begged hysterically: "I want to go with him."
Then she stood on tiptoe, threw her arms around his neck, hugged and kissed him and repeatedly said: "Baby, I love you. Baby, I'll be fine." Finally, weeping and hyperventilating Amy, 24, ran out of the flat and shouted to Fielder-Civil in the courtyard below: "I'll be fine. Baby, I love." Fielder-Civil managed to shout back "I love you" before being bundled into an unmarked people carrier. (The Mirror)
Amy has reportedly been "distraught" ever since seeing her husband disappear in handcuffs, and has gone to visit him numerous times already.
I give her credit for, despite all this, choosing to stick to her previously scheduled
"The singer performed hits including 'Back To Black', 'Tears Dry On Their Own' and 'Rehab' during the concert at
Birmingham 's National Indoor Arena. Before the song "Wake Up Alone', she told the audience: 'This is for my husband.'
But during an encore cover of The Zutons' Valerie she stopped singing, dropped her microphone and walked off the stage."
Fans reported that Amy was barely able to make it through a single song because she was crying so hard. She also couldn't stop singing about her husband."Every time she did a song she put 'Blakey' or 'I love my Blakey' into it, and she changed the song Me and Mr Jones into Mr Blakey," a source told The BBC.
It is very sweet and sentimental to love someone like a star-crossed lover, and I can imagine that it is not the most comforting feeling to know your husband is possibly being gang raped in a prison somewhere, but Amy's uber-attachment to someone who has clearly had a negative and isolating effect on her life is just becoming more and more painfully obvious.
Probably in withdrawal-of-the-hip, from the absence of affection and attention that her hubby provided, Amy seems to be even more desperately turning to her favorite substances.
But given her highly publicized drug problems, her skinny and unhealthy figure, her recent lackluster performances, and everything her family members have said about her, it seems only logical that she would be doing one of those things.
I hate to say it, because a lifetime in prison is obviously a terrible thing for the person who it's happening to, but if Blake were to remain in prison, it might not be such a bad thing for Amy! Without a partner in crime (literally), maybe the talented artist can start to see the bigger picture again, and claim her life back before it claims her.
