Premiere's Movie News  By: Matt Mueller

amy_winehouse_module-web.jpg

When news broke last 10 days ago that Amy Winehouse's home had been raided and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil arrested, probably none of us were surprised, thinking only that it was about time. As it turns out, the arrest was somehow not regarding drugs, but Blake's other set of crimes. The charges have been called "perverting the court of justice", "conspiring to throw a trial," and a couple other possibly British terms, but basically Pete was due in court next week for assault charges and the police raided his home because they suspected that he was plotting to pay off a key witness. If convicted, he could end up in jail for life.

Amy Addicted to Blake, drugs, self-sabotagingThe scene in front of Amy's north London home as her hubby was being arrested was straight out of a Romeo-and-Juliet-esque love story:

As eight plain-clothed officers manacled Fielder-Civil and led him off to cells, the tearful jazz diva begged hysterically: "I want to go with him."

Then she stood on tiptoe, threw her arms around his neck, hugged and kissed him and repeatedly said: "Baby, I love you. Baby, I'll be fine." Finally, weeping and hyperventilating Amy, 24, ran out of the flat and shouted to Fielder-Civil in the courtyard below: "I'll be fine. Baby, I love."

Fielder-Civil managed to shout back "I love you" before being bundled into an unmarked people carrier. (The Mirror)

Amy has reportedly been "distraught" ever since seeing her husband disappear in handcuffs, and has gone to visit him numerous times already.

I give her credit for, despite all this, choosing to stick to her previously scheduled UK concert tour. Unfortunately it was a decision the iconic diva may have regretted as soon as she stepped onstage for the first night of the tour. Here is The BBC's report of Amy's audience booing her off stage after she dedicated a song to her imprisoned husband:

"The singer performed hits including 'Back To Black', 'Tears Dry On Their Own' and 'Rehab' during the concert at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena.

Before the song "Wake Up Alone', she told the audience: 'This is for my husband.'

But during an encore cover of The Zutons' Valerie she stopped singing, dropped her microphone and walked off the stage."

Fans reported that Amy was barely able to make it through a single song because she was crying so hard. She also couldn't stop singing about her husband."Every time she did a song she put 'Blakey' or 'I love my Blakey' into it, and she changed the song Me and Mr Jones into Mr Blakey," a source told The BBC.

Amy Addicted to Blake, drugs, self-sabotagingIt is very sweet and sentimental to love someone like a star-crossed lover, and I can imagine that it is not the most comforting feeling to know your husband is possibly being gang raped in a prison somewhere, but Amy's uber-attachment to someone who has clearly had a negative and isolating effect on her life is just becoming more and more painfully obvious.

Probably in withdrawal-of-the-hip, from the absence of affection and attention that her hubby provided, Amy seems to be even more desperately turning to her favorite substances.

At a concert last week, the troubled singer appeared to pull something out of her beehive and then snort the substance right on stage - in the middle of her performance! And over the weekend, she couldn't even make it through an hour-long flight without her ciggies and drugs. PerezHilton reports that she made "three 10 minute trips to the toilet", returned looking incredibly "out of it" each time, and was then caught smoking by a flight attendant!

That Amy Winehouse snorted cocaine onstage or shot up heroin in an airplane bathroom is clearly speculation at this point (and wow, if she really did sneak drugs onto the plane, then she is either incredibly clever or just really really eager to join her husband in prison!). We could definitely give her the benefit of the doubt, and assume that she was simply wiping her nose during that performance, and that she was crying or washing her face in the bathroom. Maybe just wanted a little privacy.

But given her highly publicized drug problems, her skinny and unhealthy figure, her recent lackluster performances, and everything her family members have said about her, it seems only logical that she would be doing one of those things.

I hate to say it, because a lifetime in prison is obviously a terrible thing for the person who it's happening to, but if Blake were to remain in prison, it might not be such a bad thing for Amy! Without a partner in crime (literally), maybe the talented artist can start to see the bigger picture again, and claim her life back before it claims her.

The Spice Girls gave the world a sneak preview of their "Return of the Spice Girls" concert agenda with two performances last week.

First they dropped into the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Thursday to perform two short, but elaborate sets. The Telegraph reports:

For the first time in nearly a decade, all five Spice Girls returned to the stage for a concert at a lingerie show in Hollywood, delighting audiences with a sneak preview of their much-hyped reunion world tour.

Older, in some cases thinner and with an impressive brood of children between them (seven, so far), the five members of the iconic 1990s pop group are today more Spice Women than Girls.

But the five were eager to prove the years have not dampened their spirits and as they charged through a zesty rendition of old hit Stop! and a new single Headlines, the star-studded audience's response recalled the fan fervour of the band's heyday.

PerezHilton gave a more extensive review of thespice-formation-web.jpg performance:

The girls' first song was the best of their set. They did a spirited, lipsynched rendition of their classic Stop, dressed in a military theme and with some great male dancers.

After the ladies finished their first song they gave each other a big hug and breathed a sigh of relief.

Not too shabby - despite the lipsynching - for their first time out in years.

Their second song, current single Headlines, didn't fare as well. Though it was a ballad and required no dancing, they lipsynched this one as well. Unfortunately, they didn't have the boys or choreography to make this song as compelling.

They kinda just stood their in their gowns just pouting throughout the entire performance of Headlines - like mannequins.

Having said that, they did look AMAZING, although we don't think any of their outfits were made by Victoria's Secret.

If you are planning to go see the Spice Girls in concert, just go in expecting them to lipsynch. If they do, then you won't be disappointed. And if they actually sing live, then it will be a special treat!

spice-huddle-web.jpgSo I guess the rumors that about the Spice Girls dressing up in lingerie only were lies. Dirty lies! But probably a better message to send their fans anyway. On a side note, Perez Hilton also pointed out that Geri "Ginger Spice" and Emma "Baby Spice" totally ripped off two of Britney Spears' old outfits! Kinda makes sense considering that "tacky and flashy" is the fashion M O for both parties!

The girl group's second performance was an identical show at the BBC One's "Children in Need" concert on Friday. Click here to watch their fun performance of "Stop!"

Next on the agenda: the Spice Girls officially begin their girl power comeback tour December 2, starting in Canada, dipping down to California, spanning across Vegas, New York, and Chicago, then hitting the rest of the world - Argentina, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia. Girl power is taking over!

web-models.jpgEvery man's wet dream!

Nearly 30 of the world's most beautiful lingerie models have trekked their way into Los Angeles for the 2007 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

The glamorous private-jet arrivals included Heidi Klum, Karolina Kurkova, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Izabel Goulart, Selita Ebanks, Marisa Miller and Aussie favorite Miranda Kerr.

The "very sexy" group will likely be engaging in a string of publicity affairs before they strut their stuff in tomorrow's much-anticipated fashion show at the Kodak Theater.

The highlight of the fashion show, which will hit televisions Dec. 14, will include performances by the Spice Girls. To mark the debut of their comeback tour, the girl group will sing old favorite and new ballads while scantily clad in lingerie outfits tailored to each of their personalities and styles.

The Vicki secret Models are getting their own "marks" as well - a Hollywood Star, to be exact.

"The models will take part in a special event on Hollywood Boulevard, where they will receive their own star on the footpath in front of the Kodak Theatre," the Brisbane Times reports.

Buuuuut what is the star for?! Being "very sexy?" I guess it makes sense. From t.v. stars Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks to socialites Naomi Campbell and Gisele Bundchen, Victoria's Secret models have spread themselves all over the entertainment industry map. Now they just need to create a "Victoria's Secret" reality show!

americangangster.jpgThis fall has been one of the weakest periods for Hollywood's box office, but thanks to last week's launch of crime-drama American Gangster (helped by Seinfeld's animated comedy Bee Movie) sales have picked back up.

American Gangster crushed it's competition this week and quickly became the second highest launch of the year, with only 300 topping it in week one of box office sales. Based on the true story of 1970's heroin peddler and crime gangster Frank Lucas, the film's success is due largely to director Ridley Scott's strong cast of Academy Award-winning actors Denzel Washington, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Russell Crowe, who is working with Ridley for the third time.

Playing a hero is something Russell Crowe does well - whether as a gladiator, a hostage negotiator, or his new role - as a police officer up against one of New York's most intimidating gangsters.

Here is some of what Russell told a journalist about his character, Richie Robert's dedication to justice:

"I think Richie's a great patriot. He went into the Marine Corps, and it wasn't quite what he thought it would be. So he went into the police force, and it wasn't quite what he thought it would be. Then he worked his ass off and became a lawyer, and then a prosecutor."American Gangster’s Box Office Revival

"And he was like, this doesn't satisfy me either. So I'll do this thing that I know you're allowed to do in America. I'll stand here, and I'll be an advocate for somebody who has no defense. Or who has done something indefensible. And I'll still stand up for them, and ask questions on his behalf. I'd call him a rock chucker."

But it is also somewhat of an ironic role for the Australian family man, who says that his admiration for Richie Roberts only went so far:

"This guy wasn't such a good person. He couldn't keep his pants zippered. You do get in a situation where a person you're going to play in a movie, does want to impress upon you the way they'd like to be seen. As in Richie saying to me, don't make me out to be a womanizer. Even though he had lots and lots of stories about being just that!"

As for what does really matter to him, Russell opens up a little about his private life with wife Danielle Spencer and son Charlie:

"My life has changed a lot since I got married. And having two little boys. I'm very blessed. On a daily basis, I get to experience a whole type of joy that I've never had before. So it was the right time for me to become a dad. From where I came from, I'm a working class boy, born in New Zealand. And I won an Oscar. And that took a lot of personal fortitude. I had to go from one place to another place on that journey, and nothing was ever guaranteed. It's all about right place, and the right time."

And the way his career is going, Russell sure seems to be in the right place a lot of the time!

Despite reports less than a month ago that estranged spouses Heather Mills and Paul McCartney were on the brink of resolving their divorce battle, things have gone completely the other direction since Heather's emotional TV appearances last week.

Heather against the World

Heather vs. the Media

Calling herself a "dormant volcano" waiting to explode as a result of the "abuse" she's been dealt, Heather told Britain's GMTV last week that the media has spread horrible lies about her:

"Everything they write is complete rubbish. They've called me a 'whore', a 'gold-digger,' a 'fantasist,' a 'liar' and the most unbelievably hurtful things. ... I've been so close to suicide so upset about this. I've had worse threats than a paedophile or a murderer and I've done nothing but charity for the last 20 years!

"A certain part of the tabloid media created such a hate campaign against me, that they put my life and my daughter's life at risk. That's why I considered killing myself because I thought, if I'm dead, [Beatrice's] safe and she can be with her father. And that's the truth. I'm sick of it."

"My plan is to change the law in the European parliament. And I will do it. I will investigate each and every one of those journalists."

Heather went so far as to compare herself to Princess Diana, saying "What are we doing as a nation? What did they do to Diana? They Chased her and killer her," suggesting that she sees a similar fate for herself.

Heather vs. Paul

Complaining that she has been "persecuted" by the media because she has stayed quiet "to protect Paul and my daughter" - Heather said that Paul for his part "has done nothing to protect me."

Rebutting claims that she has refused divorce settlement offers and claiming that she is nearly $3 million in debt in divorce lawyer fees, Heather exclaimed: "I've been offered nothing, okay? Nothing! And that's as much as I can say now, or I go to jail for telling the truth."

She went on to imply that Paul is cheap, stating that the biggest source of contention in the marriage was over what to do with McCartney's fortunes."How can anybody have that kind of money and not do more for charity? That's what we arguedheather_against_world.jpg

about all the time."

Heather also complained to Extra about Paul's daughter, Stella McCartney:

"Every single week Stella tried to break up our marriage. She was so jealous. Stella wasn't interested in her dad's happiness. I can't protect her any longer... she's done some evil, evil things... we found out she scraped my face out a photo when they were in psychiatric session together."

Hahaha! I know that probably wasn't meant to be funny. . . but, it was. And if the recent rumors that Stella recently created a new line of jewelry featuring a "single-leg pendant" to mock her stepmother's disability, then I believe it! Talk about brutal!

The Backlash Against Heather...

As she expected, Heather's emotional outbursts about the media and her future ex-husband have not been well-received. British tabloids immediately ripped her interviews to shreds, calling them "bizarre, unnhinged ranting" and calling Heather "out of control" and "in need of help."

Paul's "corner" was also quick to counter Heather's criticism by pointing out her character defects - and even suggest her to be an unfit parent, according to a recent article about Paul's fears that Heather's TV rants "will have a negative impact" on their daughter Beatrice:

A friend of Sir Paul told The Sun that the rants would only serve to damage Mills in the eyes of the public:

"His biggest fear is that Heather's comments will harm Beatrice. What she has said is not healthy for anyone and in particular their daughter."

"People will see what he had to put up with. Paul has too much dignity to respond to her claims."

barb-grimace-web.jpgSir Paul's cousin, comedian Kate Robbins, also chimes in on Stella's behalf, saying Heather couldn't be more wrong about Stella: "Stella is a lovely person. She is kind, generous and absolutely peaceful." Kate goes on to call Heather a "liar" for saying that Paul is cheap: "If you knew how much he gives to different charities you would be gobsmacked."

I almost want to feel sorry for Heather, because - for whatever reason - the press really does seem to hate her - and she has overcome a TON of obstacles in her life.

But then I hear event the most objective of witnesses attesting to what a royal pain Heather is. Take Barbara Walters, for instance, who recently dished (watch video) on her past experiences with the Brit:

"This is not a very nice woman. The first time, I was very touched by her, she had been in an accident, she'd lost her leg." But by visit #2, not so much. "One of our producers gave her a glass of water, she said, 'this glass of water is not room temperature'... she was so impossible.'"

Well it seems obvious that pretty much everyone - from the media to friends and family of the couple - sides with Paul. Will the law follow suit? It certainly won't help that Heather has publicly called herself a "dormant volcano" (ready to explode), admitted to considering suicide and said she constantly receives "death threats" - which could result in the harm of her and Paul's daughter, Beatrice, as well.

Heather's dramatic statements may be arousing sympathy for some, but they are goin to burn her more than help her - because they just reflect that she is totally emotionally unstable!
