Jennifer Love Hewitt is the topic of conversation for more than just her weight this week - the 28-year-old actress has some new bling on her ring finger after her Scottish actor-boyfriend Ross McCall proposed last month. The couple decided to tie the knot after nearly two years of dating, and Jennifer says the secret to their success will be how effortlessly the two get along. "It's the first time I've ever been in a relationship where you don't have to try," she told People. "And I think that's the answer. That's when you know that you're in something really good and healthy and right."

Fellow sitcomer Ali Larter will also be hitting up the altar in '08 - the Heroes star accepted (another actor-boyfriend) Hayes MacArthur's marriage proposal over the weekend, her rep confirmed this week. Ali, who has been ranting about her "mad love" for Hayes since August, tells People that she can't wait to start a family. "I look forward to that time when I'm home with babies."

Speaking of babies . . . Lily Allen has a bun in the oven! Amidst all this week's "oh no!" hype about Jamie Lynn Spears' unplanned pregnancy, Lily's baby news kind of slipped under the radar. But for Lily, who is 22 years old and happily settled down with her rocker boyfriend Ed Simons, baby news is a reason to smile this holiday season. A source close to the British singer told The Sun: "Lily could not be happier. She is thrilled to be pregnant and can't wait to become a mum. She's a real family person ... Ed's very happy. He is really looking after her."

Just as Jennifer, Ali and Lily start to plan their family futures, Katherine Heigl is putting a period on hers. The Greys Anatomy star has spent much of the holiday season planning her Utah wedding with musician Josh Kelley, which is supposed to take place just two days before Christmas. "Everyone is already so full of cheer just before Christmas. So to throw in a wedding at that time - she just loved the idea!" a friend told the press. And what better place to get married than amidst a winter wonderland?

More wedding bells to come in 2008 - so stay tuned for HollywoodUpClose's review of 2007 pregnancies and proposals!

jamielynn-crop-web.jpgBritney's little sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, has a lot more in common with her popwreck older sister than we once hoped. The SIXTEEN year-old Nickelodeon "Zoey 101" actress is PREGNANT, and expecting a child most likely this summer.

The father is Jamie-Lynn's "long-time boyfriend" Casey Aldridge, but the stability of their relationship is doubtful.

In November, Jamie-Lynn told the Associated Press that she was single and did not have a serious boyfriend. "I kind of just keep my options open," she told them. "I have a bunch of friends that I always hang out with, a bunch of guy friends."

A month later - the boy has quickly been upgraded to "long-time" boyfriend - a change that probably has more to do with the Spears's Southern Baptist values and "devout Christian" beliefs (yes, believe it or not, those values are even buried inside Britney Spears...deep, deep, deep inside....somewhere in there...). Surprisingly though, there has been no talk of marriage, and lots of talk of splitting.

A Spears insider tells Life&Style that Casey and Jamie Lynn are on the rocks and are no longer dating one another:

"Jamie Lynn and Casey are NOT together. They've broken up numerous times, but he was her first and she kept taking him back. At this point, Jamie Lynn has asked her mom - and not Casey - to be in the delivery room with her."

But Jamie-Lynn's own words in her OK! Magazine interview suggest a more harmonious relationship to her babydaddy.jamielynn-and-casey-father.jpg While she acknowledges that the pregnancy was "a shock for both of us," Jamie Lynn explains that keeping the baby was a mutual decision:

"Casey was 100 percent supportive. He has always been good with babies. He's like a big teddy bear, especially around babies, so I know he'll make a good dad," she says, adding that Casey and Mama Lynne both attended her first ultrasound. As for marriage? "Right now, we're just focusing on the baby and having a healthy baby. We're trying just to think about that right now so we haven't really talked about that."

jamie-lynn-britney-golden-t.jpgNot surprisingly, mama Lynne has decide to put her "parenting book" on hold. The "personal story of raising high-profile children while coming from a low-profile Louisiana community" is "delayed indefinitely," according to her publishers. Probably a good idea....Right now might not be the best time to brag. But at least Jamie-Lynn's pregnancy will give Mama Lynne even more dramz to write about!

Meanwhile, daddy Spears is said to be "furious and devastated", while Britney had NO clue about her sister's pregnancy...until she read it in the tabloids. In fact, K-Fed actually learned of the pregnancy before she did! Unlike Britney, who must have had yet another falling out with her mom and sister since their October reunion, Kevin keeps in touch with Lynne and Jamie Lynn regularly. And according to K-Fed, the estranged popstar was not expected to be happy about the news. "We're waiting for the fallout from Britney," an insider told Page Six. "Kevin is sure Britney will flip out and blame her mom and dad." Well, ya can't blame her for being unhappy with the news - if anyone knows firsthand why being a young mommy is bad news, it's Britney!

Here is a 5 minute clip from one of the most talked about movies right now - Cloverfield. After releasing a tantalizing teaser a few months ago, JJ Abrams is toying with us even more. Enjoy!

goldenglobe_nominees.jpg

In movies, Cate Blanchett and Philip Seymour Hoffman rocked the scale with two-time nominations, while Keira Knightley, James McAvoy and Saoirse Ronan scored 3 out of the 7 nominations racked up for the leading drama Atonement.

Charlie Wilson's War snagged the second most nominations, thanks to performances by classic favorites Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. Movies neck-in-neck with four nominations each were Johnny Depp's Sweeney Todd, George Clooney's Michael Clayton, and Tommy Lee Jones's No Country for Old Men.

It was nice to see Across the Universe in the runnings, but personally I was disappointed that the Disney musical Enchanted was left out. At least Amy Adams was selected for best musical actress, against Hairspray's Nikki Blonsky.

I also thought Robert Redford's Lions for Lambs drama should have been given more notice - it was so powerful (albeit cliché) - but there was tough competition with Angelina Jolie's A Mighty Heart, Denzel Washington's American Gangster, and Viggo Mortensen's Eastern Promises.

Acclaimed directors Tim Burton and Ridley Scott gained film nominations alongside Joe Wright and the newly arrived co-directors/brothers, Joel and Ethan Coen.

In television, old shows back in the nomination pool include Grey's Anatomy, House, 30 Rock and Entourage, while new shows Damages, Pushing Daisies, Mad Men, and Californication joined the competition this year.

Actor nominees Katherine Heigl, Jeremy Piven and Hugh Laurie were joined by new competition Christina Applegate, Anna Friel and Michael C. Hall, who this year began starring in Samantha Who?, Pushing Daisies and Dexter. It's nice to see Christina Applegate finally break away from her Married with Children pigeonhole, while Michael C. Hall was so good in Six Feet Under that it's great to have him back in yet another twisted drama.

All in all, the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards should be an exciting race - assuming that the show does go on. With all that is going on with the WGA strike, there is talk of red-carpet picketing or celebrities refusing to show up to honor the event. Should be interesting to see what happens in Hollywoodland as the WGA strike goes on and the votes tally up! For a full list of nominees, see below...
