KINKS SWAPPED LIVERPOOL FOR WATERLOO
Date: Feb. 3, 2006 | Category: Music News
The Kinks most famous song WATERLOO SUNSET was written about a totally different place.
Frontman RAY DAVIES confesses the track - one of the most famous hits of the 1960s - was written as LIVERPOOL SUNSET, about the demise of the city's music scene.
Davies explains, "It was going to be called Liverpool Sunset. At that stage it was about the death of Merseybeat... I try to avoid Waterloo now."
