WET WET WET fans were breathing a sigh of relief after frontman MARTI PELLOW announced he was alive and well - despite reports on the internet claiming he died last Friday (12JAN07).

Hoaxsters had tampered with the online encyclopedia Wikipedia and prematurely reported the Scottish heartthrob had died.

A stunned fan SOPHIE CORNWELL says, "I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that he was dead - I was absolutely shell-shocked."

The WISHING WELL singer's spokesperson confirmed he was "definitely still alive."

A spokesperson for Wikipedia apologised for the distress caused to Pellow, adding: "Occasionally pranksters change details on the site."
